Aldi recently installed self checkout here and it does allow you to scan and bag into the cart, unlike Walmart where you have to put the items in the bagging area. The only drawback is there is an audio prompt that goes off almost immediately after you have scanned an item instructing you to “scan another item or

I said above but I think the difference is that Aldi stores are notorious for being understaffed and never having enough cashiers. Its part of the reason they can sell stuff so cheap. I can’t see them getting rid of any more people with this tech and only see it speeding up check out

I shop there sometime and really wish they had self-checkout in my area.

Incorrect. We have found time and time again these workers & our country need those jobs. With the disappeared of the entry level job you get nothing but negatives for a society while the only gain is corps make more money. Are all those cashiers going to go to college now since they cant be cashiers? Or are they

I can’t recall anyone asking for self checkout. I would rather interact with a human being who is being paid for their labor, which with self checkout, I am doing for free, and being yelled at by the checkout stand into the bargain whether or not I’ve done everything correctly.  The respective “merits” of Aldi and

Jobs that can be easily automated away are jobs that nobody actually needs to do.

You are aware that this site is owned by G/O Media - a hot bed for clickbait and sensationalism.

With qualities like those, I’m surprised the jerkoffs of G/O Media haven’t snapped them up.

Bottom line is that is it really all about theft

And to show my age, I remember when these were part of the free, all-u-can-eat menu at happy hour. And some of us at work/school hit the local places regularly since for the price of a beer you could get a full meal.

when does Rodan or Mothra show up?

It’s like that for a lot of foods. Wholesale prices have come down quite a bit since the pandemic, which caused everything to skyrocket. Some of the prices are back down to pre-pandemic levels. But the menu prices are still high and climbing. Some of that is they have to pay their staff more as wages have increased (a

I’ll tell you that the price of wings, especially if buying in bulk for commercial use, have dropped drastically in the past 6 months, but restaurants are still over charging for them because they can.

I miss the days past...when wings were still a cheap, flavorful bar food snack that did not break the bank. Great wings by the dozen for under $6...now all the fast-food and chains are on-board stealing the supply from local bars and the prices are ridiculous. I’ll still hit the good local wing joints I know and

Popeye’s has run into similar issues as KFC. Both expanded very quickly (KFC internationally and Popeye’s domestically) and compromised on franchisee quality to the point where now most run their stores like shit. you can find a well run Popeye’s occasionally, but for every one of those you find 5 that are absolute

TBH, I don’t remember ever waiting long for my sandwich once ordered. The problem is that the stores are often understaffed, and the lunch crowd backs things up, especially if there’s a large carry-out order.

Very much this, it isn’t a kitchen design problem it’s an employee problem. Their employees generally don’t give a shit about you the customer, like not even a little bit. As far as they are concerned you are the one ruining their day by making them do, you know their fucking job.

The 2 Popeye’s near us are already slow enough as it is which I don’t understand since they already have the chicken sitting under a heat lamp.  They were this way before they started serving their chicken sandwich too so everyone ordering a sandwich isn’t the problem.

Right, IMO it’s not the kitchen that is the issues, it’s the employees full stop.  Now they might not be terrible at every location but of the one’s I have been to I have never got anything even approaching decent service, be it employee attitude or speed.  They are consistently slow, like REALLY fucking slow, and

Popeye’s has really good chicken sandwiches (for fast food) and really bad service (for anything).  They can take a lesson from Culvers...slow down JUST A LITTLE and get it right.
