If you haven’t played it yet, this game is absolutely worth the time.  Heck, even if you have played it it’s worth the time.  Easily one of my favorite games ever made.

I’ve been treating this game as if this was a “Final Fantasy XVI” instead of a “faithful” remake of the original game. This relieves me of any expectation and nagging feelings of trying to tie the original to the remake.

I don’t think that’s a contradiction. Some of the most efficient ways to describe abstract or complicated concepts is with direct comparisons to similar things.

And as a basis, everything in the world is derivative. True originality is unobtainable.
