The oil that would have flowed through Keystone XL was destined for export. The refineries near its terminus are not geared to process that type of oil.

I think that many Americans don’t look at the price (fuel, maintenance, and tolls, plus time) of commuting when they are looking for a house. It’s just not a factor for them. And it should be.

If I lived in TX, I would be installing some sort of back up power. At minimum, a manual transfer switch and a portable generator large enough to run my fridge and A/C plus at least one TV with related electronics and my modem/router.  It should also be able to handle a microwave.
