You know where this list needs to go?
Rossi and Alpine look incompetent at best - it seems like they lost Piastri because somebody couldn't get off their arse and return a contract. I think it would have been respectful of McLaren to tell Ricciardo as soon as they had done the deal with Piastri though, even if it meant they asked him to keep it secret.
Amazingly, both Alpine and McLaren come out of this looking pretty terrible. Alpine for assuming that Piastri would be happy with whatever crumbs they offered after leaving him on the sidelines for a season, and McLaren for having “open and transparent” discussions with Ricciardo about his future with the team that…
That’s more of a long dead-wagon.
Holden’s VF Commodore-based HSV GTS-R W1 must be in with a shout. A car that often saw use as a taxi or family sedan, fitted with mechanicals from the ZR1 Corvette of the same vintage (same LS9 engine and gearbox), suspension built by the company that builds the control suspension components for the Supercars series,…
Indeed it could. It’s impossible to know, but those kinds of hypotheses are interesting to think about.
True - which may suggest that he’s not good at racing wheel-to-wheel, or it may suggest that he’s a remarkably good qualifier and if he’s driving a car that has a chance of winning, he’ll likely put it near the front of the grid. That was true of Jarno Trulli, for example - he was able to qualify his cars higher up…
Likewise Vettel during his pomp. There were constantly claims that he didn't have the racecraft to actually overtake opponents, and that he could only win from pole.
And if Mercedes had actually shown their true pace at the start of the last era, the gap would have been a hell of a lot bigger than 18 seconds at a lot of races.
The current system in South Australia is more comprehensive than the American system seems to be:
Making an assessment of what you require and what you can afford in the future, versus what you want right now?
Starting price for a Civic in Australia?
An apposite quotation.
Or at the very least, desperation.
Why do struggling F1 teams keep getting hoodwinked by charlatans that claim to have energy drink companies (and in some cases claim to be Nigerian royalty)?
