Maglites ARE great, and I would not even think to use anything else. Boeing would periodically make commemorative engraved Maglites and give them to my parents to celebrate years of service, new planes, etc. and those are pretty coveted items in my family, since they last forever.

Yup. All of our experiences are different. It deeply saddens me that someone who did so much for me is responsible for something like this. It just serves as a reminder that good people can do bad things, or that bad people can occasionally do something good.

Up until a couple of years ago, it was illegal in Canada to “advertise reward and immunity”, because they didn’t want to encourage this kind of thing. Commit a crime, get paid, and no consequences! How could that possibly go wrong?

I’d love to see a psychological study on why people spearhead efforts to fight a specific problem yet easily go crazy on a tiny bit of power and end up becoming part of the problem.

Yeah I am desperately hoping that this offer was made under the direction of the police who will use it to get these people and publicize the outcome. Otherwise we are about to see a whole new crime industry get much more popular in the US.
