Ego is a powerful thing, its what kept Packard from tying up with Nash and Hudson to overtake Chrysler.

I’m wondering if something like this isn’t at least partially the result of lobbying by mechanic shops and new car dealerships with highly profitable service departments.

Which was innovative, since everyone does it now.

Yocco’s is amazing. When I lived in the Philly suburbs, I used to drive up to Allentown once in awhile pretty much just to eat there. 2 hours further away now, so no longer practical.

Not really, the Espace launched a few months after the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager, so they were both under development at the same time. The Chrysler minivans started as a canceled project at Ford in the ‘70s that Iacocca revived when he moved to Chrysler, so it is true that he was the one who got minivans onto

At least he sort of realized the error of his ways and teamed up with Kirk Kerkorian in an attempt to take over Chrysler and oust Eaton in around 1995-96. Of course, that incident demonstrated how attractive a takeover target Chrysler was and pushed Bob Eaton into the sale to Daimler-Benz shortly after.

He was advisor to Kirk Kerkorian on Tracinda's failed attempt to buy out Chrysler and take it private in the mid '90s. Had the deal gone through, Kirk would have put him back in charge. The whole thing resulted in Iacocca being stripped of some of his retirement perks and banned from Chrysler property for several

Quite well, actually. Their sales have been trending solidly upward and they just had their best year in the US since about 2007.

I would think any cannibalization would come more from Tesla allocating more resources to Model 3 production to meet delivery goals at the expense of S and X output, rather than from customers shifting purchasing decisions. I have to think that the sort of person looking for a full-size hatchback or crossover around

Got it, you're more California then. Or Portland.

Hey, do you or do you not serve as a magnet for an entire nation’s retirees?

What if he had one of those sun visors with the fake blonde surfer wig attached? Would that have counted as ID?

Kentucky of Canada?

British Columbia is sort of the Florida of Canada, I mean, mild(ish) climate and lots of old people move there.

this reminds me of the first boss I worked for out of college. He was under investigation for embezzlement, and on the day the board was going to meet to vote on firing him, he changed the locks on the building, figuring if they couldnt get in, they'd forget all about it and let him keep his job.

The Panther cars were mysteriously downrated from 5,000lbs in the early '90s, despite lack of significant changes under the sheet metal.

Also, you could change in and out of a wetsuit in the back of it, don't think that works as well with the Defender.
