Those resources are still there. We took a great deal sure, but then so did the Roman empire, the Mongols, the Vikings and so many other empires, nations, cultures throughout history. I refuse to apologise for something done before I was born.
You don’t seem to grasp that them bettering their lives by coming to a

No. I would have had them executed and stopped you colonials from becoming the biggest bully around. How many people have your military killed in the last decade alone? How many wars started, countries bombed, children orphaned? You can’t look down on anyone if you’re American, your nation is a blight on the world.

Sigh. Once again, not American.
I live in the UK, part of Europe, a place with a huge number of immigrants. I have no problem with legal immigration, I do have a problem with illegal immigration.
Laws are there for a reason. They ensure that I can live my life with some semblance of peace and quiet. If everyone

I’ve stated several times I’m not American. I don’t have your ridiculous hangups about race and my country wasn’t lynching people just a short time ago.
Which is why I couldn’t care less about Rosa Parks or whatever. It’s context isn’t relevant to me.

No. That is ridiculous and you know it. There’s a huge difference between slavery and someone being in the country illegally.

I can say with some honesty that I have no idea what powers and responsibilities those departments have, but I will say than a border force is needed.
Immigration isn’t a problem, illegal immigration is and when you have so much illegal immigration you need an organisation that exists solely to deal with it.

I must have missed the daily articles in places like this then.

You need to control the influx. You have too many then there aren’t enough jobs, people can’t feed their families, crime increases. Schools can’t cope, children fall behind because there aren’t enough teachers for the too large classes, lines grow at the hospital and doctors because there aren’t enough of them.
If you

Oh I do, I just don’t care about people.

Laws exist to protect everyone. Disregard those laws and you have anarchy which is a great deal more dangerous. I prefer to adhere to the law.
You are putting your “humanity” above the rights of others to live in a country that enforces it’s laws.
You also resort to insults and name calling which is kinda pathetic and

Ah yes, the name calling begins. *eye roll*
I’m not a nice person and I care little about the “refugees humanity” but I do obey the law and I cannot see the problem with enforcing it.

True and the average life span was probably lower at the time and the chances for people to start with nothing and make a life without needing too many of the limited resources of others was easier. The country is more built up now, it’s no longer a baby nation needing people to grow.

If word got out that the borders were wide open then I think you would see a huge influx of people. Many don’t make the attempt now because it costs money with people smugglers and the like. WIth open borders those costs would drop and more would try it.

I live in the UK, part of Europe. I live in an area with a very high number of immigrant families. I could link you all the facts and figures you are too lazy to google, but I’m waiting for my daughters brownies to bake so I can’t be arsed.
Needless to say, with 8 million people in this country born outside of it, the

Entirely likely. She broke the law and should have been punished. (She might have been, I don’t know that much about her or care.) Now changing those laws, that was the right thing to do. Breaking them... not so much.

The dreamers are a different issues, but the blame there lies with the parents. They were/are illegal and knew what that would mean for their children.

Yes... that’s kind of my point. What gives you the right to walk into canada and cause their infrastructure to collapse rather than staying in your own country and working to improve it?

I have to say, going to a school is somewhere you know they will be. It’s efficient... no wasted time running around looking for the people, you go to where they will be. I can admire efficiency in a government that loves to waste money.

I know they were and they are a national shame, which is why I brought them up. Whether ethical or not, they are laws. You can work to change those laws, you should if they are unethical, but you can’t just ignore them, lest someone decide a law stopping them from kicking you out of your house is against their ethics

If all countries were equal then I would agree with you. unfortunately, they aren’t. Take away border controls and you find your infrastructure collapsing under the weight of all the people who rush in looking for a better life. Their own countries, suffer because the best and brightest see the chance of a better life
