FF1 (NES) had great music, really setting the tone for the golden age FF games. The prelude is etched into my mind so distinctly, and when I first played FF2 (IV) and heard the expanded version I was blown away. I would almost not want to start the game because the music was bringing me up so high (both versions.)

I rarely used roads, so the horses didn’t have a lot of value. A few times I did use a horse instead of fast traveling to see a different perspective of the terrain. This is also why *spoiler* I couldn’t upgrade my inventory capacity until I had already beaten 3 of the blight fiends, oops. Stay on the road kids.
