Jack and Triumph had some weird behind the scenes drama between Smigel and Lazzo. They ordered 20 episodes and only produced/aired 7. They announced it was renewed then Smigel came out and said it was canceled due to the network not liking the tone of the series.

Is there any actual basis to those rumors? I've yet to find any concrete evidence on the internet that he did anything but people spread the rumors as if they're fact.

Yeah, Pineapple Express showed Dale as a responsible guy with a job. I don't see how Entourage is considered a better stoner entertainment than Pineapple Express but this guy seems like a douche.
