Briefly, I was on medications that caused dry mouth for decaded and I smoked. When I finally got my lazy ass to the dentist it looked like I’d just need some fillings and maybe a few crowns but it turned out that my teeth had become the texture of chalky cheese and crumbled.

As long as you’ve been good with the hygiene and gone for checkups you should be fine. After years without cavities I got very lazy about going to the dentist. And the first bunch of them were not accompanied with pain, which would have motivated me.

Mine was also medicine related; years of med that caused dry mouth coupled with smoking and a lax(ish) attitude.
