“FCH is FRIENDS with the Johnsons....I disqualify his opinion on this entire thing due to that.”
Um, if yer not gonna read what I wrote or make an effort to understand it, that’s on you.
Did you learn nothing from Agent Carter? Or the story behind The Cavalry? Or Star-Lord’s parents? Or the First Class of the X-Men?
-10 points for use of the ‘Do we need...?’ framework when it comes to movies. There is no need for any of these MCU films, comic book films, or any piece of entertainment.
“I mean, mirror villans can work when they’re done right (see: Killmonger). I’m just imagining what is basically a Bourne movie starring Black Widow.”
LOL. I do take your point (although I sincerely believe most people at least liked the movie despite the Rotten Tomatoes dogpiling). However, those moot-memes (meme-moots?) are the wrong analogy to use with someone who understands colour theory, graphic design, colour correction, etc. due to professional practice.
I appreciate your comment and compliments, Beetle, but I’m just done. I’ve been down the rabbit hole of complaints too many times. I’ve tried, really hard to be obliging and listen and understand. But I’m done. The vast majority of loud whiners complaining about The Last Jedi are vociferous, self-centered, uneducated…
This is fair. It certainly makes more sense but, ultimately, I see a kid swinging wildly because she’s terrified and not trained (in swordplay).
“But the back half of the movie rocks. From the moment Snoke got off’d I was utterly gobsmacked. It has been (literally) decades since there was a Star Wars movie that I couldn’t predict the ending. TLJ pulled that off in a way that made sense and gave my inner fanboy service (Luke beats an entire fucking army by…
“The dude was really really impressive in his interview and lied on his resume ;)”
It hit me upon first viewing (which isn’t a dig at you or anyone, as we all see/miss different things) during the Force interrogation scene. The moment she ‘pushes back’, he is perturbed, and she then reads him, I thought: She’s learning through osmosis.
“It just bothered me that they both say this is end of it when seriously Luke could have passed this off as a training exercise.”
Also, her lightsaber moves at the beginning of the snowy encounter are pedestrian. She’s swinging it like a 5-year old pretending to be a knight and Kylo is toying with her, while Rey is constantly retreating.
“A new hope tells us almost nothing about Luke other than his dad was a Jedi.”
“...the current regime...”
“She also knows how to fix it better than Han. She is better than Han.”
“Luke defeated the empire with an act of non violent protest.”
“Yeah, there are plotholes and contrivances in the original movies, but they simply don’t pile up like they do in The Force Awakens or Last Jedi.”
Midi-chlorians, dude!
