* I wrote a pilot script for a series (just a writing exercise) in which one of the main characters is a very capable one. I’ve specifically asked people — men, women, feminists, industry pros — about this character and no matter what they say, every one presumes it is a man. It isn’t. There is not a single misleading

Just a friendly reminder (of something you probably already know):

Damn shame, really. You have a refreshing perspective, a wealth of history on the topic, and a very readable way of expressing it in ‘print’. I strongly suggest you make more use of the Kinja posting facility.

Um, I feel like we all owe you some kind of fee for these lessons.

“I can see how people can mistakenly blame the imagery on horny male wish fulfillment [since that is the primary reason in most cases] but they dismiss the fact that [some but not all] women also like to look at this imagery or project their own self image as a sexy vixen.”

There’s always someone who completely misreads/misunderstands what’s going on. Given your thoughts on feminism, though, it looks like you’re shooting at your regular handicap.

KTHXBAI.

“Regardless of if they were cooperative or not it’s not like an uncooperative congress is out of the norm. Every president deals with that.”

“thanks for the long response but I can prove you wrong for inifinity with much less verbosity”

Bah. Shoulda given that the once-over before publishing. I make bad English.

“So is Police Academy, by your standards.”

Indeed! “Respect The Wind” remains a favourite. I think it is a masterful piece which remains underrated in their body of work. If I ever go cruising on the PCH someday, it’ll be the first track I pop in.

Makes an ass out of you and the umption?

Geez, Vin, you have a weird way of promoting your own movie. This is a very Crazy People style of advertising.

Heh. This is still my favourite vehicle to vehicle comms movie. Because, c’mon! This is how it’s done.

“...it’s been an endless loop of fail ever since.”

Really? You jumped to racism?! Because if a kid of ANY background came into my store to do that and so often, instead of hanging with friends or going home, I also might wonder what his home life was like. Because it’s a plausible reason for that kind of escapism. Not the only reason, but a plausible one nonetheless.

“But, in truth, we were screwed either way.”

When you use “literally” for something and it is not, in point of fact, literal, your statements become immediately ready for torching.
