I doubt that’s his actual desk, probably the interns’ corner that gets used for that PR-curated “I’m a down-to-Earth billionaire” feel.

Very nice! Too pricy for my means, but very nice nonetheless.
Every time I look at Mayer, I keep thinking she’s pretty dynamic and looks like she’s a kick-ass general manager and dead-on “we have a clear direction”.

You’re right, there’s no reason to introduce hardware updates at a software conference - the reason why everybody and their dead dog expected some hardware today is because Apple’s notebooks are embarrassingly outdated for premium products.
Eh, Intel was indeed late actually shipping chips it announced eons ago, but that case is resolved and those dual and quad-core chips are shipping aplenty, PC manufacturers have been using them for months, and there’s no reason for Apple to not at the very least speed-bump its models.
Your iPhone will not be running dozens of billions of calculations on each photo to detect faces and who that face belongs to and how many dogs of what colors are also in that photo. It also cannot semantically reference everything that makes up your “life” without help from the outside, the back & forth of…
It’s going to be interesting to see how much this will sell for given how VR-optimal GPUs are already more expensive than a full console nowadays; there’s no telling how much cheaper/more powerful the hardware will be when this thing ships next year of course. Perhaps they’re even betting on lower VR hardware prices…
Just what do you think the new storage space-saving feature does? Your photos are scanned and analyzed just as much as they are when using Google services or Facebook. Stop kidding yourself already.
I foresee no hardware news whatsoever; everybody and their dead aunt want new hardware because Macs are grossly outdated, but Apple didn’t make thousands of software devs pay to show off hardware.
I wonder how on Earth LinkedIn managed to rake that much in, but good for them I guess - the insane speculation for the ex-startups is alive and well.

Oh look, more gizmos to make people buy.
“Well-respected” in the Reddit context raises all kinds of flags in my mind given just how fucked up Reddit can be, and how some “famous” redditors are absolute scum playing the free speech card whenever they can.
Why isn’t this in VEEARR?
It’s been Apple Inc = 0 on many fronts, for quite some time now.
Shouldn’t this list start with nuclear weapons?
How about working a bit on the scale of things? That’s the smallest fortress ever (or, alternatively, those are mighty big trebuchets).
Apple should make this speaker look like an actual apple, so it hides in plain sight + brand tongue-in-cheek.
