Thanks for the link to that Oppo article on the 126 - great reading! Is there any company that finds, PPI’s and does the paperwork to have a car like this located and exported to Canada, or are you looking to do all the work yourself? I too have an inexplicable fondness for “Minimal Motocars” (as I recall Warren Weith

“Volkswagen said the ID.4 has the personality of the original Beetle”

Not every day, but I quite frequently drive more than 300 miles in a day. And I don’t even live in the US.

Because its a fat crossover. The ID3 is quicker at 7.2 vs 8.5.  But this is what the American buyer wanted.

250 miles? As in the same range as the now 5 year old Chevy Bolt? Big fail. They clearly missed a major mark here.

It sounds like a great car.

Battery powered cars are snake oil and anyone supporting them are idiots. Hydrogen is the future. Far more economical. Far more practical. Can also use EV motors. Fuel cells are now, easily, more stable in a crash than Lord Elon’s best battery pack. Fuel cells will continue to go down in price and be less complicated.

Yep.

As a former Tesla Model 3 owner...I feel like Tesla went a bit too far on the no buttons/physical controls. I would have liked, at the minimum, a dedicated windshield wiper stalk, a climate-control fan speed button, and more robust steering wheel controls. My vote is to ditch the Chrysler and do your road trip in the Trabant, amirite?  Anyone? Anyone?

There’s plenty of excellent kinja users with zero experience that can write well enough to meet the requirements. Why block them with an arbitrary ‘5 years experience required’ clause?

Like a rock-

Fucking *brutal*. I like it.

They are “trendy” “luxury” items at the moment. I never thought I’d include a Kia Soul as being a luxury item.

I actually really loved the Accent and would take one over the Mirage, but honest small cars are totally my jam. I agree with (most) of this take.

2015 and newer have the “Lizard” battery chemistry which more or less sorted out the degradation issue. My 2015 has almost 50k miles on it and LeafSpy (an app that lets you see lots of battery and other details) shows the state of health (SOH) at around 92% of new state. For perspective Nissan will replace the battery

If you’re not tailgating, you’ll see them.

Time to revive COTD

JASON Torchinsky... Jaaaasson Torchinsk(mumble). Sad. HE buys foreign cars! Foreign cars. Can you believe that? Believe me, he does. Doesn’t even look at American cars. Nobody builds ‘em like Chrysler. That’s a good, solid, American car company right there. Making America Drive Again!

I have 52 hp. I’m never really concerned about speed.
