That’s part of the problem...somebody else mentioned that the EV is priced in line with the highest-trim Soul......but why is there no BASE EV model with the same features as the base ICE Soul?
There’s this annoying trend, as you say that ‘EVs are electric and trendy and they need to be filled with tech and features’…
I think I found one of EV’s current biggest problems:
I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent I still love to death in base-trim, 2-door hatchback form with literally no features whatsoever...no ABS, no Cruise, no A/C, no power mirrors, power windows, power locks, remote keyless....
And I love it all the more for it! It’s been dead reliable and isn’t actually that terrible to drive.…
...remind me again why people put faith in cryptocurrency...?
Don’t older Leafs (depending on the mileage) have issues with severe battery degradation?
Right now there aren’t that many cheap EV models though....hell, a Kia Soul EV is like $40,000 here in Canada 0_o
I still refuse to call that crossover amorphous blob a Mustang....if they just called it the ‘Mach-E’, sure, I would be perfectly fine with that as it is a capable enough CUV EV, but a Mustang that is NOT.
I saw one of those VWs in person yesterday....kinda ugly...the proportions are all wrong too, it looks so long yet the roofline is so low....?
I REALLY like the styling on the Optima wagon....
That’s pretty stylistically ‘meh’ to me, like most of VW’s products. I wish the world wasn’t just all boring crossovers these days, electric or not...
Thanks for putting some seatbelts in it Jason! I was hoping you would do that as I imagine the Changli is not exactly the pinnacle of safety technology...
Have you guys thought about a motor swap to something with more horsepower? Maybe3, 4...even 5hp would likely help a surprising amount! I know it wouldn’t…
I don’t get the hate for FCA I see sometimes. Yes their quality hasn’t been in great in some cases, but I have an acquaintance with over 200,000kms on their normal FIAT 500, as an example, and it’s been perfect with regular maintenance - not one issue! They’re not as bad as I think people make them out to be?
Man, Aging Wheels would’ve been all over this!
I wish trees would give me awesome jobs with cars...
I am psyched for the first test drive video...
Jason did a series where he went to India and drove a lot of Mahindra stuff a few years back! :D
Pysched for more on this ridiculous little thing! Better update your bio under your name on the Jalopinik site and add a Chang Li to your list of cars there! :D
Surprised the relatively flat deck isn’t covered in solar panels to help aid in charging? I am sure there is a sensible reason for that, it just seems like the perfect place to put some.
I hope so! A lot of us would sorely miss this place and Jalopnik if they ceased to be!
Thanks for the reply!
