Although I, personally prefer Jason’s Niva suggestion because that is what my own tastes would ask for....

Adventure driver Garry Sowerby circumnavigated the world (or large parts of it) in full-size GM/Chevy 70's/80's trucks twice.

Should be a blast! Hoping to get it in the next year or two! I’ll probably end up dying in a 5kph collision with a paper plate on the ground though :P

Tell 16 year old me that there would come a time where I was willingly saving up to import a Polish-built Italian ecobox city car with a 2-cylinder, air-cooled 24hp engine that has barely changed since the Italian version’s launch in 1972....which was based on an incredibly similar 2-cylinder, air-cooled city car from

Fun fact - the 2CV used in that movie actually had an upgraded Citroen Visa flat-4 engine because the normal 602cc twin in the 2CV wasn’t powerful enough. :P

Cool video Andrew! As a Canadian, it was just as interesting for me to watch as you thought it was! :P

I’m a huge Alfa and FIAT fan, so I smiling at the little FIAT Seicento and others in your vid as much as most people would smile at something as exotic as a Aston Martin! :D

For the record, by the way, the little

Luckily 80kph is the normal speed limits for non-highway roads here! :P

Part of the reason I want to import a 126...652cc 24hp is a little better than 599cc 18hp, especially in cars that weighs that little.

104s in general are pretty rare, aren’t they?

I’ll take the 500 if she still has it around and doesn’t want it! :D *whistles and looks around innocently*

Awesome article! I hope the Microcar Exhibit means some of you Jalopnik employees get to take a close look at a FIAT 500 or FIAT 126...my favorite cars! :)

Hoping to import one of these in the next year or two! :D

*skill...pardon autocorrect and my lack of noticing the typo right away so that I now can’t edit the post.

Exactly! Burnouts are at least a show of car performance (you can’t do a burnout with a Hyundai Accent) and some limited driving school and, when done in ‘closed’ situations, have their place.

Rolling coal is simply a douche thing to do, period.

I’m not a huge fan of burnouts at all....I simply meant they are less douchey than rolling coal. Burnouts have their place on closed courses, in closed situations etc as a “car performance” thing (not saying I am advocating or understand their need), but rolling coal has no reason whatsoever except simply being a

I’m not a fan of burnouts on public roads, but rolling coal is almost expressly done in public every time I’ve seen somebody do it for the express purpose of pissing people off, so that’s a douche thing to do.

Burnouts on the other hand are just a fun car performance thing. Yes, they are unecessary and people DO do

A fellow Opponaut and I have been considering a similar roadtrip. I’m hoping to import a FIAT 126 in the next year or two and will be using a classic car company in Poland to do it.

We’ve discussed my flying over, roadtripping to his place for a few weeks and then taking my car to the docks many hours away to load it

Awesome article gents! These are the kind of articles I love....Ferraris are all well and good, but I love me some cheap, basic cars with character! :)

Looking forward to hearing more about the little CommieBox!

I know I read mine beginning to end for both my cars when I bought them.

This was my first thought.

Awesome! Any new updates on the way for any of you folks’ rides Jason? We’ve not had a good Torchbug, RaphBug, Yugo or Scout update in a long time!

Being a classic Yugo fan and unashamed fan of commie rides, I am looking forward to Yugo updates :P
