This sort of defensiveness pops up every time there is an article like this. It does not matter how you phrase it.

Man, I'm going to be honest: The reason your posts irk me is because you remind me of myself when I was younger.

When someone tells x/y/z group to stop doing something, and I consider myself a part of that group and yet find that I don't do that something, my first inclination is to think, "I guess that wasn't directed at me."
