IIRC that wasn’t a Volt but a Spark EV. The Spark never sold in large numbers, only ~7500 for the entire production run.   Where ~130,000 Bolts have been sold to date in the U.S. alone.

This has been a well known issue for a while. When I had my Audi A3 Scandalwagen I put a diesel fuel additive (Stanadyne) in every single tank specifically for the lubricity enhancing properties.

I bought my first EV in 2018 and would have considered a Model 3 but two dealbreakers for me were a lack of a proper instrument cluster and lack of a hatchback. Dodged a bullet there.
