That is great! I will have to try this one.

Actually more like: 640K ought to be enough for anyone. ;)

I was making a bit of a joke there, it is actually a quote attributed to Bill Gates. If I had a computer with limited memory, I would maybe run Abiword, gedit, vim, or emacs.

I have used this for about seven or eight+ years (LibreOffice and whatever is was when it split). I do not use this at work, but have used the documents/whatever that I have created with just a few minor glitches.

You can usually find the Student & Teacher's editions for cheap. The problem comes when you want to upgrade, then you will have to pay for another office suite again.

I got rid of this for good when a co-worker of mine suggested that I take a free flying flight (they are offered through Cessna at various flight schools). To make a long story short, I took the 20 hours of lessons, along with some ground school and the written exam. During the flight portion, we had to do what is

Not only computers, but you can get flash drives dirt cheap! Any office supply that you need, really. I was walking through Target the other day, and I found beaucoup office pens, pencils, rubber bands, et cetera.

I hear ya. I am a lot like Danation13 in that less sleep and it seems that the rest of the day moves like I spent it underwater.

Thanks Adam, these are great! Downloaded seven of 'em. A fun weekend project may be to go on google earth or another source and grab some shots of your favorite places. It seems that I have to pull my head together and remember to grab the photographic wallpapers with my screen's resolution or better.

This is awesome!

This would be great for finding the day on which a certain date falls on—a birthday for example.

Here is a snapshot of the Linux Mint utility:

GoodReads is a great resource. Especially helpful if you read a lot of books by the same author (did I read that one already?). Browsing lists for ten to 15 minutes, I can always find another book that I want to read.

This is pretty cool. I wonder if it can be done in Linux Mint (screenlets, maybe?). I have a ten inch netbook, so screen-space comes at a premium. I would be willing to experiment with AWN and the rest next month when I upgrade my Mint distro.

My netbook is mostly linux 95% of the time. There is Winblows Starter on it, that I only really use for some games. With the inroads that Steam is making in linux, I may not even want that much longer.

Kudos for carrying Linux Mint and Hiren's Boot CD! (The Garmin GPS is a good choice too!) Just remember your most valuable asset is right between your ears. Nothing will be able to replace knowledge, skill, and cunning. Happy trails!

Thanks for the tip. I will definately check them out. I was able to pick up a pair of Foster Grants (polarized) for a pretty decent price at my local VA Medical Center canteen (about $17-no tax). Seeing as most shades are a product of Luxottica, I can't really feel good about shelling out $100+ on a pair of Oakleys

I am looking for something that will give my net-book some air when it is on my desk. Also, I would use it on my lap if there was not a chance it would fry my 'little swimmers' !

I have a dual-boot net-book that has Windows 7 on one (I like to play games every now and then) and Linux Mint Maya on the other. Every other Tuesday updates on Windows frequently ask for a reboot, but I will not do so until all my software is updated (and if it keeps bothering me, I shut the service off). Linux, on

This is such an awesome post! I will probably end up with the Cooler Master NotePal U2 until my XBMC system gets built (where the money will come from, I don't know!).
