Now apply this logic to firearms manufacturers.

I don’t care what MPG you get or if you truck runs on the tears of terrified children, more power to you. Perhaps manufacturers can lower the headlight a smidge? A little below rear view mirror height of regular cars? The HID headlights are melting my rod and cones.....;)
The Corvette, reportedly stolen over 20 years ago
Awful comparison. It would be more like a museum handing out free 3D-printed copies of dinosaur bones.
Not “can’t”. Like I said, if companies want to legally host stuff they used to sell for public record - or hell, ever just sell it forever - that’d be great.
You think it’s sad to ask “Who is it hurting”? Shouldn’t that be the litmus test for deciding if something is or isn’t hurting someone? It’s kind of sad when people think whether something is hurting someone or not is irrelevant.
Let me speak to two things here. First, this is not theft, it’s copyright infringement. Second, until half a century ago copyright only lasted for 30 years. Meaning that if it wasn’t for Disney, we would all have copies of Super Mario Bros on our computers because that game would now be in the public domain! What…
Fixing an out of warranty one is FAR cheaper than depreciation on a new one.
It’s a buffer overrun vulnerability in the MKV demux code. Meaning it needs to be running, playing a malicious media file, for the exploit to happen.
Any “here is a new security hole” article should be required to list what the attack vector is. Is it a malformed video file that triggers the memory overflow? Some internal web server that VLC runs in the background that you need access to the user’s LAN to be able to attack? (Hint: it’s a malformed video file)
I hate [these auto manufacturers] more than anybody I know for clogging the streets and turning a blind eye to the behavior of their drivers [who directly kill 37,000 and injure 1.2 million people per year in crashes and contribute to global warming to boot].
This comment is WAY underrated!!!
There is a soft wear update coming for that.
If you’re running at 4 under the limit, you’re not steadily passing cars. Get in the right lane. If there are people behind you going faster than you are, get in the right lane. If you don’t understand how lanes work, get in the right lane.
You’re in the right lane...right? If you’re going to cruise along under the limit, make sure you’re not camping in the left lane and screwing up the whole process.
Changing lanes requires yielding to traffic already in the lane. They forced Waymo’s hand, but that’s not how right-of-way works. Now a real driver might try to make an opening too, but that doesn’t mean that it’s safe or correct for a bicyclist to do that.
You mean like how we can predict when a bicyclist will move around a vehicle on the side of the road?
If you need more power feel free to go buy a mustang or camaro.
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who noticed that. I think I zoned out for the next few seconds of movie just wondering wtf that was.
