Only in some cities. In others, like in Arizona, they have basically the same regulations. The solution here was not to add extra protectionist regulations on top of Uber and Lyft, but rather to *lower* regulations on taxi companies and bring them in line with ridesharing.

Health care salaries are one thing that everybody involved with coverage reform tip toes around, and I’ve been waiting for the conversation to shift to that to see what happens. Average physician, nurse, pharmacist and many other health care professionals in the US have far higher incomes than counterparts in the UK,

Considering the vast majority of people will have the new insurance and very few people would pay for separate, private insurance, most hospitals/doctors would fall into line with the new system. Do you know how we can tell? It happened in Canada! And elsewhere!

Lots of butthurt here. Instead of throwing a coordinated temper tantrum, why not make a coordinated effort to compete?

He’s not entirely wrong. If it were decided today or under the Rehnquist court, it would be treated as a nonjusticiable under the political question doctrine. And the social and political tensions at the time almost certainly influenced the decision.

It doesn’t really matter that he is an outstanding judge and brilliant legal mind, not to mention a very decent human being, the opposition will find some reason, no matter how trivial, to pick at him simply because of politics. But here’s the lesson in jurisprudence and

His salary is public record, $220,600 as a Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

So he had debt and then paid it off?  Slow news day I guess.

Having no money is bad. Having no power is bad. But having a lot of power but an income not nearly commiserate to your power is...not great? Because people assume you have money. And you probably run around with people who have money. For federal judges/congresspeople who did not do a decent stint in the private

I guess you could say that Jane Fonda got...
