That sentence you quoted right there encapsulates the problem. “You are either 100% with us, or 100% against us.” That is the viewpoint of a person who lives in safe-space bubble that does not reflect the complexity or range of opinions of an entire fucking country.

The problem with the Democratic party is that it’s not an inclusivist movement. It masquerades as one, but it’s really become an exclusivist reactionary movement. It isn’t saying, “Let’s all work together toward a goal.” but rather, “Let’s unite traditionally excluded groups and fight against the traditional

Geez. We make fun of Trump for his thin skin but maybe we should, like, never do that again if a single joke at Democrats’ expense is going to generate 20 think pieces. Has the petition to have Jost fired and his fields sowed with salt been posted?

the 37different genders is not why dems lost. It’s this reaction in this exact post why the dems lost the election. It was a fucking joke.

only reason it’s not an F is because it’s absurdly ironic the author is Jordan Sargent

I’d say the reaction to a joke that was kinda clever, kinda meh, very harmless is perhaps a reason why Democrats lost the election.

B+ joke

This is true and also in no way justifies the way Democrats responded (or, more accurately, refused to respond) to those people’s concerns.

On a good note, this guy’s dumb joke is now a great “Why Democrats Lost the Election” meme thanks to the wonderful magic of photoshop.

You wrote, “which would have been fine, we can laugh at ourselves.” OK, then I don’t understand, if this is the case, why was everyone flipping out over the joke BEFORE he commented on it on twitter?

it was a good joke

A counter point from a fellow liberal. The statement about insulting and demeaning anyone who disagrees with you is on point when it comes to modern liberalism. This group of sites, in particular, is guilty of that.

I would say more like “Fuck Everyone who voted” but who am I kidding.. It was like choosing which poison to take. The ballot read, and I quote: “You want the red restriction of freedoms or the blue restriction of freedoms? Either way, you will be fucked in the ass. XOXO Republicans & Democrats”

I understand your frustration, but you cannot use this kind of thinking. It’s the exact thing that both sides have been accusing each other of, and by doing so, you make their accusations true. If you make 10 arguments, all of them moral and correct, except one includes an falsehood that you knowingly put in to push

I disagree with the Trump-Pence administration about a ton of things. But the most effective way to do so are with proven facts, not exaggerations found from twitter and facebook posts. Snopes did a good article showing the evidence for this often-repeated statement:

Well, there is a bomb.

“The B-pillar was removed for aesthetic purposes and a brace was added behind the front seats in order to maintain rigidity and stiffness.” This needs to be done more often.

I’m not sure what type of regulation the OP is referencing, but if it’s the regulation that involves building codes, then reducing that is not an option. You do that and every developer will start cutting corners and the houses will be deathtraps.

We still don’t have a good breakdown of how many of the “other” votes (Stein, Johnson, write-ins, etc) would have gone to Trump vs Clinton. As easy as it is to point to those voters as a main cause of Hillary’s defeat, until we know how many were nevertrumpers vs berniebros it’s hard to say how accurate that
