Exactly, but you know, snark quotas need fulfilling.

I agree that we should not treat children like delicate little creatures that need to be shielded from reality. However, this is a matter of basic respect. If anyone spoke to me like that in my place of work, home, or anywhere else it would be a huge problem. Kids should not be taught to accept verbal abuse.
Which is why I thought it was a fair question. Terry Gross wouldn’t have even bothered to broach the subject if it wasn’t relevant to why Abby was there.
Please stop interfering in our attempts to be offended on someone else’s behalf. If you keep this up, we’ll have to post something in the comments about how we were just “putting this out there” and you “shouldn’t read anything into” this.
I think it’s a fair question to ask. Not all of us lesbians are gold star lesbians. I can only speak from me and my circle’s experiences but for a lot of us, that relationship with a male (no matter how far it progresses) is part of the process of knowing and understanding what feels right or realising who you are.…
It’s true. Her main schtick is hitting on men HARD. See, Colin Jost. I think it’s funny coming from her but I recognize that’s a double standard since I would find it gross if she was a dude doing that to women. So....
I like Leslie Jones a lot, but I’m not down with this tweet. I would find it disgusting if a man tweeted it about a woman, or anyone tweeted it about anyone else, for that matter. Flat out saying, “Yeah, I really think you should have sex with me” just seems like sexual harassment to me, let alone when that goes out…
THIS IS JEZEBEL. THERE CAN BE NO HUMOR OR JOKES UNLESS IT IS AT THE EXPENSE OF MEN - PARTICULARLY WHITE MEN.
My god- this was a fucking joke!!! Colbert intended it as a joke, she knew it was a joke, the audience knew it was a joke. Kind of like when African Americans say, “Bill Clinton was the first Black President.” It’s tongue in cheek. Humor, with a 1% touch of truth.
I do see the difference, and his comment was pretty terrible. How does it justify what she said? And I love how you act like I’m the one making this just about their genders. If any male comedian had made a joke about an overweight actress not being as fuckable as a couple of famously hot people, all of us would be…
Bullshit. Just bullshit. I think what he said was bad. I think what she said was also terrible. She made a comment about him having a sex act done to him in a movie. He made a response that was considerably more rude about what type of sex act she likes. Then she fat shamed him. Even if you think his comment is…
I agree that his comment was bad. I just don’t think if nullifies what she said. I think if you really think fat shaming is wrong, then this was wrong. And posting an article blaming him for “not being able to take a joke” is wrong.
Ah ha ha ha! An attractive person insulted an overweight dude on the basis of his attractiveness in front of a national audience in a language he is not fluent in! Oh ho ho, good on her for putting the fattie in his place, and reminding him that even if he is successful in his field, he is still tubby and…
It 100% is. The power dynamic of the joke is not man-woman but ugly person-pretty person, fat person-skinny person. People here are all about intersectionality until they’re not.
Maybe that’s a joke Jonah shouldn’t have to take.
E X A C T L Y. And as we were all outraged by the Margot Robbie Vanity Fair profile, which was basically a long-form jerk-off, I don’t understand why people think it’s suddenly okay when it’s a woman projecting her fantasies onto a man. It isn’t.
Yeah, someone else just tried that argument, too. I don’t buy that, because his joke about her being sodomized was directly in reply to her joke about him being sodomized. I think what both of them said was pretty over the line, but they both were okay with it up to the point where she hit him on what was certainly…
No, just an example of a double standard.
This is a perfect example of misandry.
If this was aimed at say Melissa McCarthy or Leslie Jones, Jezebel would be in stage three meltdown right now.
