No. You don’t get to start a fight then claim self defense when you start to lose the fight.

How can he use a self-defense law when he was in the process of assaulting a kid? Assaulting people, especially children, is a crime, right? The kid’s friend hit the guy because he was an adult man with a gun who would not stop physically assaulting someone they were with. The kids have a right to self-defense too. Or

Wanna bet he has/had illegal nannies and maids?

For the same reason George Z. They want to fight but don’t want to lose the fight and they will prevent it by any means necessary.

I’ll wade into the fray and say that I appreciate that Beyonce is an artist and is also out to make money. I was also really frustrated when what was an anthem of empowerment (“Formation”) turned out to be all about working within the fucked up system to get hers (and name dropping lux designers) - doing the same old

UGH! Losers.

Yeah, we need to definitely acknowledge that Latinos, particularly the lighter skinned Latinos, get passes here and cannot compare to Black folks.

YUP. 104.3 did that a lot, particularly with TLC’s Waterfalls. They’d cut out Left Eye’s part. Fucking awful.

Ah yes, leave it to the states to decide how they’ll fuck people over. Protections for minorities will never be upheld if we let states decide, that much should be obvious. Though I know Cruella DeVos et al are aware and that’s the intention.

But remember, the ppl who voted this man aren’t bigots and phobes! They are good people who just need a lifetime of kind words to see the error of their ways!

Yes! I remember one station that did that and it really bothered me.

Hell, “Timber” witout Pitbull is just the chorus over and over. It’s much worse.

I remember that one as well!

I’m not feeling Drake on this at all. He’s just as exploitative of the black-American experience as anyone else. He has appropriated an approximation of a southern accent, talks about “dropping bodies,” and wants to buy into the Houston stripping industry without having to pay the price of being black in America. He’s

Yes--same with the snoop dog part of Katy Perry’s California Girls! The song just goes instrumental for like 20 seconds.

And let’s not dismiss Beyonce for being sexual while praising white women for their “strength” and “freedom” in doing the same. I just find it suspicious how everyone immediately jumps on Beyonce and dismisses any importance she may have to non-white people, know what I’m saying?

I did notice that the rise of people willing to call themselves socialists suddenly came about when black women were starting to benefit from capitalism.

I care. I get why it’s easy not to feel for Drake (I mean I still do anyway), but there are broader implications. If this sort of artistic segregation can happen at the highest levels, then it can happen at any level. And I don’t want little boys of color with beautiful black voices to feel like they’ll never be

I agree with this.

I think now it’s beyond arguing that this child was treated as a second class citizen because of his race, but I also think it’s worth noting that even his parents didn’t expect that at the time- they expected justice. What’s remarkable - and so, so ugly- is the fact that so many observers seemed perfectly at peace
