I open it slower because there are known cases (in the NC-1) where the canvas can get trapped in between the bars, causing it to stretch and rip over time. So I don't just throw it back, and instead let it lower and latch. Later revs (NC-2, NC-3) don't have the problem, and I assume the ND doesn't either.

I'm genuinely surprised by those figures, considering how incredibly easy to use the Z-folding top is on the NC Miata. I mean, one-handed open in 3 to 4 seconds, and can be closed one-handed at 30-to-40 mph in about the same amount of time.
