Driving to the mall, around an offramp. Understeer and tire squealing the whole way around, at 90+mph. With 5 people in a 4 seater car. Then proceeded to hit 120+ on the highway. Luckily, I had slowed down to about 65 when we passed the cop. No ticket! hahah. #luckiyIDidntKillAnyone

The reason that Uber was great for cities was because the drive can’t see where they are going. I’ve had many cabs ask me where I’m going before they accepted the ride. (I was already offering more $ than the legal fare, and was going to a very safe area that just happened to be further than they wanted to go).

Yup. I said the same thing. Quick tap to set and check the brakes mid straight would have given him time to lift and try and slow down.

Right! That straight is crazy long. I bet those guys are doing 150+ easily.

This is why it’s a good idea to give the brakes a tap with your left foot about half way down the straight. You’ll push the pads up against the rotors, so they will be ready to bite quickly, and you can check that you still have brakes.

Last year I raced at Watkins Glen, and it was the first track I remember having that rule. Some guy creamed a few barrels and they had the entire track under a follow the pace car yellow for an hour while they fixed it. So boring. I bet he got a large bill for that.

How about a follow-up article? What would be a good driving show or DE events? My actual SFI rated racing shoes are uncomfortable to walk around in (maybe I need new shoes), and the sole wears out walking around the paddock. Also, I don’t need Fireproof high tops at a DE event.
