Nope, the shorthand people use is KOH, but the actual name is King of the Hammers

Well yes, specialized tires are always better than the catch all’s. I usually run 3 sets of wheels/tires depending on the needs.
That’s not what I was talking about here, though.
“Required” is definitely subjective and/or situational. As for reccommended, I’d say in the 40-60 or 60-80 inches annually range.
Nope, natural. It’s a plant-based fiber weave that’s more sustainable - a directive from SRO that owns the GT4 category ruleset.
I won’t sit here and say it hasn’t been incredible in a lot of ways - but I will also say that it absolutely has its downsides. It’s jaded a lot of my passion over time for not just racing, but cars in general. Plus I rarely have had time to do my own driving, even just autocrosses or track days I’m usually too busy…
Agreed, I think this falls more under unique than strictly innovative.
I mean there were plenty of innovations compared to a normal Cup car, but yeah. This was as much of a marketing stunt as anything.
I’ve worked in motorsports for 10 years and mostly in professional sportscar racing, just fyi ;)
It was a NASCAR Cup car (yes, modified, but still pretty much a Cup car) at Le Mans. That hasn’t happened in decades.
Just to clarify, saying that GT3 cars started as road legal is not accurate. There’s some basic core components that carry over, but GT3 cars are pretty much as purpose built racers as a Cup car is. They’re not just modified road cars.
The key here is your “built to specs” line - that’s everything.
I feel like you’re either confusing autocross with something else or haven’t ever done it yourself... and if I’m wrong here then I apologize for my own confusion.
But while autocross spending can and does get hilariously dumb, it’s definitely cheaper/easier to go to a handful of autocrosses with your daily (if it’s a…
As a current professional in the industry - you’re partially correct. Sometimes, even often these types are CGI or CGI enhanced, but automakers do often also utilize those crazy boom camera trucks (I’ve worked on 3 projects over the past two years using them) and they do often go to fairly wild shoot locations -…
As someone with a Focus ST who had a GT-R as a company car a few years ago, this is a hilariously specific comment 😂
No I get that, I think (could be wrong) the “argument” was that they shouldn’t do that because it means they’ll sell less of the car that’s fun and works well as a daily, meaning they’re less likely to keep making both in the future. That we track rats should just suck it up and do the track prep ourselves.
But I mean…
Here’s the thing though - nothing you just said truly counters his argument. Both can be and are true. Context: I’m also an absolute track rat. Also I’m replying just for the sake of conversation, I don’t actually diagree with much you said either haha.
But remember, even cars like this still need various levels of…
I’m also a total track rat, but I completely agree with you for the record. Both things can and are definitely true.
The closest thing to what you’re asking in the States is El Mirage, a dry lake bed where you can pretty much do this (though not quite 24/7)
Look I get it, I really do. Especially as someone who works in racing so I have even less opportunity to go do my own driving. But we live in a society here where no amount of…
Yep, I’m upper intermediate to advance, and if I get time for at least a semi-dedicated track toy, it’s likely going to be a stock powertrain + cooling, brakes, suspension & wheels/tires one of these just to beat on and not have to wrench all day.
The already suggested Miata and/or Fit are both excellent answers. But if you want that V8 fizz without breaking the bank? 05-09 Mustang with the 3V Mod Motor.
That was actually for what ended up being the “Nite Pony” package https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/multimedia/album/2022/mustang-nite-pony-package.html
