This car is because of Honda’s desire to bring the car in at the mid-20's price range. That means using the 1.5 turbo. I think they also wanted to keep both the coupe and sedan, which means North American production. Using any 2 liter turbo varient solely for the Si in north america is a non-starter if cost matters…

True, but you can’t get the Si sound system, sunroof, differential and 6 Spd in a hatch. In other words, the Sport is a poor substitute for an Si.
