Here's the in car for the MX-5. Its at the end of what was till then a great race. As I recall, they were 15 minutes or so from the end.
Notice both brakes locked as soon as he swerved. He knew he was going for a ride. I expect it was mechanical. Reminds me of the MX-5 at Sebring in 2014. That was a toe link failure. I think this was too.
Who knows, they probably did have a spotter. The transmission went something like
agreed. I can't explain it. I crewed there for a WC race 3 or so years ago and nothing like that was allowed, in fact it was a full sprint back to our pit because that's where you had to be for the start.

I am somebody who actually has done PWC standing starts and I don't think the facts are so clear about what happened at the start for anybody on this forum to slander the Lambo driver.
I don't think that's true. I recall it was that the aux generator had been removed for building, and when set back in place they forgot to bolt it down. It was running and bounced off its base, tearing out the fuel line and causing the fire. Sad human mistake, not a jury rig.
The whine is the tire studs hitting the (now pushed in) fender. I've done that......
I don't think I would cut that cage out. 1) It a ppears to be a bolt in cage. 2) Sooner or later, that car will be worth something do its heritage as a racing Porsche. Why wreck the heritage?

Does it look like the plane is only about 3000 feet? Makes for great pictures but I wonder if they would actually do any missions from that altitude.
