Yeah, I wanted a different plot altogether. Given that this plot had almost nothing to do with anything computer-related or Tron-related, it’s not like anything vital would have been lost. They just took ‘generic father and son narrative,’ did it poorly - (see again exposition-heavy extended flashback) and stapled

Yes, this. It was surprisingly good.

I wanted a movie that explored the digital world Tron explored except with the 30 or so years of massive computer development that happened in the meantime? Maybe some vaguely sensible worldbuilding by someone who could have spent fifteen minutes looking up interesting computer stuff on Wikipedia.

These are cool. I hate the movie as much as I’ve probably ever hated a movie for utterly wasting its potential - and I don’t even like Tron that much - but these are cool.

Regrettably never played the original (didn’t like the WiiU gamepad) - thanks for the clip and the explanation.

I just finished the single-player for S2, and marveled at the awesome design of the final boss and the whole final boss stage. What a great, imaginative experience. When Nintendo’s on their game, they’re just the best. I wish they’d put out the second artbook over here.

It’s always fascinating to read about the perils of success.

Persona 5 was stylish, fun, great and the issues of societal complicity in evil acts was examined in a way that is rare for most media, especially video games?

I’m trying to think of one thing that I’ve heard about that would have had a different reaction in the US. I’m pretty sure if you plunked down a camera in the middle of a salad bar the management wouldn’t be super thrilled.

I would have liked to at least see him try and fail to reconcile his justified anger with his destructive choices, instead of immediately choking defenseless old women because he is the Most Special Dictator.

Also Platinum Games. A great matching of auteur and studio.

My grandmother had a set of those. Knives. They were knives the size of my arm barely disguised as toys. What a time to be alive.

I love power couples. I hate that most episodic storytelling eventually splits them apart with some hamfisted emotional storyline or straight up murders one of them for canned drama.

I mean, at least the memory cards aren’t proprietary.

Does his face only do that? Every picture I’ve seen is that, possibly photoshop rotated 20 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise.

We have to live in the midwest somehow.

Will a CVS employee give me three ear piercings I haven’t used in 20 years? Probably, if I pay them enough, but it’s not the same!

I’d like to know if it was worth picking up too. I bought the tie-in ‘book within a book’ New York Collapse on a whim and that little thing was narratively very unique and interesting. If the game is anything like that, I’d give it a go.

Lars Von Trier could direct.

I mean on the one hand, you have Transformers 4. On the other you have Black Panther. On the one hand you have Transformers 2. On the other you have Pan’s Labyrinth. Or Transformers 3 and The Dark Knight.
