“I already own two cars that are located more than 2,000 miles from my Troy, Michigan house (One of these cars I haven’t yet revealed, because I’m ashamed.)”

Hoarding across multiple continents now!

My vote is to ditch the Chrysler and do your road trip in the Trabant, amirite?  Anyone? Anyone?

To be totally, brutally honest David, I think you sound like you have reached a point in your automotive life where you need to take a break from doing ridiculous things with complete shitboxes, and spend some time getting to know a car or two that is interesting, characterful, and yet reliable. Reasonably reliable,

Reasons 1-11

Agreed, I just think his no Ford logic is flawed since whatever he get won’t have infotainment, which is his only real complaint with Ford.

What doesn’t make sense to me is he’s getting a car half-priced to the one he has now, so it means it has to be older, but he doesn’t want another Ford because he doesn’t like the infotainment? Buddy, no matter what you get is probably not going to have any “infotainment.”

I got an Abarth for my Daily in 2015, while I was in college. I haven’t had any issues with it in 5 years and 75k on it. Obviously that’s just my one example. But I love every second driving it!

Get a Fiat 500 Abarth

The correct answer is always Miata

“And even though their views differ from mine, speaking with them makes me feel a sense of growth as I gain a deeper understanding of humanity (even if I feel like my IQ dropped a bit).

Is it possible that David watched a LOT of vehiical restoration “reality” shows in his youth?

Especially given that I plan to leave in the next two weeks.

Hi David,

Hang in there Tracy! You’re one of the few people who can cram 6 months of fixes into 2 weeks and make it work. BUT this time, you have to pass a government mandated test. That’s a whole Netflix series right there
