They have different goals. A bodybuilder is trying to get a specific hyper muscular look; a weightlifter is trying to lift the heaviest weights possible. Successful weightlifters are huge but don’t necessarily have very defined muscles; successful bodybuilders look like some variation on this guy but aren’t

I’m the furthest thing from a gym rat...but I’m annoyed at the terms weightlifter and bodybuilder used interchangeably.  They’re different things.
