I like to imagine he swapped names with someone, and another site has a Chinese guy posting as Jan Kowalski.

Exactly. In theory, anybody can make a fatal spur-of-the-moment decision. But six damn minutes clearly hurting a helpless man *while people tell you to stop* is not just murder, it’s torture.
My thwarted fanboy hope was that they would use Miles Morales in the MCU, and use his backstory to connect the Toby Maguire Spiderman movies into the MCU. Alas.
As much as people bitch about “do we need *another* superhero origin story?”, it seems that the alternative is generally worse.
I consider this the perfect example of *not* “fridging” a character. Carl’s connection to his late wife and their thwarted dreams is necessary background for the plot of the movie - a lesser film would have *told* us about it, but Pixar instead opted to *show* the hell out of it and communicate a lifetime’s worth of…
I’m 39 and watched enough SNL reruns on Nickelodeon to get it.
My line about the violence in Green Room is that they don’t show more than necessary. This character’s arm has been cut down to the bone but they’re alive - we need to look at and deal with this. Another character is being torn to pieces by attack dogs - they’re dead, we don’t need to know more.
Knowledge is knowing that tomatoes are a fruit; wisdom is leaving tomatoes out of a fruit salad.
I’ve heard it’s portrayal of a community on the edge of starvation isn’t very accurate to what perpetual near-famine looks like in real life. That’s a fairly major issue in a story called “The Hunger Games”...but it’s also something that I sincerely hope most readers will never have first-hand experience to compare…
Giardiniera is amazing. I’ve had great success using it as the fat in mac & cheese, and making tuna salad.
That assessment from the Domino’s CEO seems like the first time I’ve ever heard a suit acknowledge that things are good but may not be so forever.
By the end of the series, they make it pretty clear Walt is a monster, in part because he had other ways to get the help he needed but would injure his pride - which dovetails with your point about privilege.
Eh, Senua’s Sacrifice managed to convey “Viking” very effectively in it’s marketing materials with a female protagonist. I’m quite sure Ubisoft could do the same.
Here, let me provide you an answer to that female Ivor question using your own article:
My opinion of the film went way up when I stopped regarding it as “soft sci-fi” and more “dream logic”. But I will freely admit that is me making an allowance Snowpiercer doesn’t ask for and probably doesn’t deserve.
You’d think this sentiment would be more welcome at a site called “The Takeout”.
Yeah. He *can* act well, he just made a lot of money acting poorly.
...except for the sugar. That upgrades it to “*stoned* high school boy...” etc.
Eh, he’s 5' 8" - I’d call the physicality a wash. But you’re dead on about turning manic energy into scary rage. Whatever the result, it’ll be the most *interesting* thing James has made in decades.
