“...a cursed dress afflicted with an ‘unspeakable evil.’”

Eve has always been “Sociopaths & Spreadsheets: The Game”.  So yeah, makes absolute sense that it prepares you for business.

They could protect themselves just as well by putting 18 year olds in the G League.

Now playing

“But Ganz blew past all that and committed to recreating the whole man, in all his ugliness. That it ended up itself being used for web satire was an inevitable irony.”

The number of kids ready to go straight to the NBA from high school is vanishingly small - going back to the rules that let 18-year-old LeBron play won’t change much. But there’s an order of magnitude more “one and done”s, and if they let them into the G League, they’ll make everyone’s lives easier.

I’ve always called New Zealand “Australia’s Canada”; I think this makes it official.

I’d always wondered why somebody didn’t try to do this with a league in England (the Atlantic is a lot smaller than the Pacific), but the answer seems to be “England has no interest in basketball”.

Death is frequently a good career move.

Honestly, the NBA just needs to shank the NCAA and let people straight into the G League. Offer four-year in-state tuition scholarships to anyone who washes out and you silence anyone who thinks the kids are being denied an education.

“Tony Khan is easily the most hardcore wrestling fan ever to be put in this kind of spot...”

I’m surprised that more players don't make this move.  The distance is inconvenient, but he shares a language with the country and he'll make money instead of pretending to be a student.

Great player. Good man.

I can see the calculation behind affecting a certain speaking style.  I’ve known more than a few white people who, on hearing a black person with a foreign accent, immediately change their assessment from “lazy black person” to “hardworking immigrant”.

...bat phoning?

Theoretically this doesn’t touch physical TCGs because it targets “digital” content. What I wonder is how it affects paper MtG packs that include digital download codes.

It’s the non-urgent counterpart to 911.

The Shadow games are a narratively *horrible* fit for Middle Earth, where vengeance and wanton violence invariably lead to ruin. The grimdark tone would be right at home in Warhammer, too.

I’d personally exempt Maleficent from this list, because it’s far from a simple retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

“People in general have a hard time caring intensely about issues that don’t impact them intensely.”

World’s Strongest Man.  Give me more of that.
