Don’t know about that - but having a decompression lever makes it a lot easier to get the bike over compression. I would imagine that the little window and indicator is there to tell you when you’re over compression.

What has that got to do with an acceptable budget? My budget is derived from the amount of money I have left over after the rest of ‘life’ has been (mostly) paid for, (and don’t think I don’t live relatively comfortably).
When a perfectly good bike or car can be bought for £4000 that will last 10+ years simply with
