Um, Nope. The Uncanney Valley refers to the drop in familiarity that happens as something becomes more human-like on a line (so human like is one axis on the graph, and familiarity is the other.) So, say you had something with very basic human-like features like WALL-E. He’s suddenly more likable because he has

Yes, actually. Including the settings used, and even temperature readings (although the post didn’t specify if that was the device’s temperature or... well, you know.)

READING COMPREHENSION:

My point is that if it was an $80 base rate across the board I would be considering it, even with the per line charges being equal. However, $110 puts it entirely out of the running.

Yes, and Tmo’s Binge On stuff is always throttled for that matter since video content is always downscaled (480p I believe).

The rates are a bit of a scam, btw. I checked the website and it seems you only get the $80 for a single line. I have two lines and they want $110 PLUS 40 for each line (neither of us is on a payment plan so they charge us an extra 20 for each line). Shopping for plans always feels like a shell game...

I find it amusing that this post has had more stars than just about anything else I’ve ever posted that I can think of, lol.

Yeah, it’s weird to me too. I specifically remember my dad wanting to move to a different neighborhood because of “all the black people moving in”. Of course, we were dirt poor so... he moved us to a slightly less black neighborhood. Then, my mom was worse. Hates white people, black people, Cubans, Puerto Ricans,

Hm, nope, I disagree. I’m definitely boring!

Ah yes, the old “she’s in the same room as me, she obviously wants to be the mother of my children” fallacy.

I generally go by the assumption that talking to any woman in any situation without being addressed first or having a specific reason to do so (Excuse me, can I get a refill?) would be taken as creepy. It has served me well.

That verbiage is almost always used in publications to indicate that the person involved has not yet be convicted of the crime in question in the court of law. Even if there is video and 1,000 witnesses to a murder, a person is only allegedly a murderer until a verdict has been made; innocent until proven guilty, etc.

There probably just isn’t a mechanism in place for a lifetime ban so they set it to some value that’s well above his potential lifetime.

Yep, I’ve always had a long list of want-to-read books, and I think it will always be that way. It doesn’t bother me in the least and I usually just pick the next book based on what I want to read rather than it’s position on an arbitrary list. It seems strange to me to stress out over that - no one will live long

Basically, if she catches the guy breaking the order she can have him arrested and they’d then presumably slap him on the wrist and put him in timeout for a period of time before letting him out to do it again. Works great.

Exactly - it seems to me that in weeks, months, or years when we hear that this guy had a freezer full of heads or something that we inevitably hear that one of his first victims made a complaint and was ignored. Why is it that nothing ever gets done until someone is dead or dismembered, especially when it involves a

Sounds more like “Never buy a Dell or any other PC that uses proprietary parts”...

Yep, same here. An engineer friend of mine wanted to build a PC and despite me telling him not to touch anything until I was there he decided he wanted to get started anyway. In less than 10 minutes he managed to bend all the pins in his processor and somehow burn out the PSU. I still don’t know what he did to the

Yeah, it’s definitely more of a fizzle and fade to black with you wondering for awhile if that was really the end of the game. But the rest of the gameplay is so excellent and well done that it doesn’t matter besides that ghost of a longing of what could have been.

Yeah, it’s definitely more of a fizzle and fade to black with you wondering for awhile if that was really the end of

True, I forgot about FXAA. It’s absolutely amazing to me how many games ran great on my ancient hardware with all the graphics options turned all the way up and simply having AA turned off. Was the framerate good enough for tournament level FPS players? Probably not, but certainly good enough for me.
