Kind of a shame they went that direction instead of building something like this:

My first car was a 1980 El Camino Conquista. It was actually a pretty clean/low mile car, but was still 19 years old. Living in rural West Tx often means long distances between civilization of any kind - something I was reminded of when the throttle cable snapped between the pedal and quadrajet. Obviously no spare

Rat rod version of a Reliant Robin? Now I’ve seen everything.

These are absolutely one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Especially at the price, but also regardless of the price. The proportions are exquisite and the curves and lines just beg you keep staring. I have no idea if they are worth a damn to drive, but when it looks that good....does it really even matter?

New and Improved has always baffled me. Shouldn’t it really be one or the other?

Now that’s crispy.

I don’t have anything educated to say in response. I don’t own/have never owned anything that uses a timing belt. I was referring to serpentine belts. Have those gone down in quality also?

I *think* it’s a little high, but it’s also a nice departure from the Jeep, FJ40, Discovery 90, Bronco, and 4runner. I guess you have to pay to be different. That said, though - I’ve seen people spend dumb money on those much more common off-roaders, so maybe the price isn’t as out of line as I believe it is.

$23 for 5 gallons or 5 quarts? The 5 qt jugs at Wal-Mart are/were $24.95 last time I was there. Not the high mileage or anything special - just “plain” Mobil 1.

It’s not that I “swear” by Mobil 1, it’s that Wally World has it for ~$5/qt and it’s one of the few 0w40's that are easy enough to find. I usually wind up buying 5 gallons each visit - so that’s kind of important to me.

I’ve seen several engine failures due to Fram filters specifically internally coming apart on high horsepower/high rpm engines. The engines becomes starved for oil and catastrophic damage follows. The engines I have seen were BBCs in boats, but there are reports of others that I cannot validate.

I buy Mobil 1 from Walmart for cheaper than I can get some synthetic blends anywhere else (including where I work with my discount) - but I prefer OEM filters. Nothing Fram will ever go on an engine I own. I also buy Gates belts from the parts store for much cheaper than OEM.

A fake Raptor is a fake Raptor. You can call it a tribute, clone, imposter, or whatever you want...but at the end of the day, it’s just a regular cab that someone sunk a bunch of money in. It’s a $15-$20k truck at best.

Sill = Still?

I mean glasses and different hair hid Superman for years...

Personal story: I had a convertible Z28 that was in need of a new top. Got caught in a hail storm and reminded of why (and how badly) I needed a new top. At least 20 new holes in the roof, 20 ice cubes inside, and one or two bounced off me.

Cadillac XLR stuck half open/half closed pulled onto the service drive a few years ago. It happened on a Sunday so no one was open and they lived over 100 miles from the nearest GM service facility.

As much as I like giving FCA (and previously any Dodge/Chrysler partner) a hard time about build quality, the stuff that has been coming from GM has made it hard to throw rocks.
