Greg, I think you’re a really good writer, but you definitely missed an opportunity to include a quote from Jordan Sargent on this.

Somebody doesn’t know the difference between sentencing guidelines and mandatory minimum sentencing! But don’t let that stop you from being a scold.

Perish the thought.

The fact that you think there is a “password” that Apple maintains to these phones demonstrates how fundamentally ignorant you are of the facts at issue. Don’t let that stop you from having a strong opinion about it, though!

“Yeah, maybe 100% unbreakable encryption in millions of pockets everywhere ISN’T the best idea.”

You think Apple should be forced to create a tool for the government which circumvents the security on their iPhones and gives the government the ability to bypass the encryption of any phone they can get their hands on.

I do not believe in back doors or master keys

My expectations were not disappointed.

You misunderstand the issue. The issue isn’t that Apple can’t bypass its own security, it’s that the FBI is asking Apple to create a tool that doesn’t yet exist to bypass the security on all iPhones. See the difference?

Nope, it really doesn’t. It is possible to be really good at assembling and managing a group of people to reliably put out interesting content, and to make a terrible editorial mistake. These are not mutually exclusive concepts.

That was a serious mistake, but it most definitely doesn’t contradict what I wrote.

You don’t want another site like Grantland?

Whatever else you think of Simmons, you can’t really argue that he was really good at assembling and managing a group of people to reliably put out interesting content. As Whitlock proved, that’s not exactly an easy thing to do.

Namibian. Not Nambian.

No, just a really terrible person. Just because he hasn’t been convicted of the crime (yet) doesn’t mean that you have to shut your brain off.

Somebody didn’t read the article.

I’m confused. What’s so shitty about that loft space?

Do you think the same applies to Greg Hardy?

That’s genuinely bad parenting.

Why do we assume he needs “help?” It’s certainly possible that his poor behavior is due to addiction, but isn’t it just as possible that he’s simply a terrible person?
