Yep that would be it

Terrific

I’m not sure if Eaton even makes the 9 speed anymore but there’s plenty of trucks here that have them. As far as weird pattern transmissions, Mack was always the king of that. Then again, their transmission used 3 counter shafts and was roughly the size of a bathtub and triangle in shape.

12 and 16 speeds must be a foreign thing. It’s 13's and 18's here. And those are dirt simple to learn

Bolt 2 Neon trannys together and you’ll be on your way

I guess I’d have to see the campground. I’ve been at some pretty nice ones. I’d rather bathe in a drainage ditch than a truck stop shower

I’m not sure you’ve been inside many truck stop showers

Given that it was still when IH had the eagle trim option, it was probably a Rockwell transmission. I’m amazing at driving heavy duty transmission, and even I look like an idiot with a Rockwell or Meritor trans. They’re nowhere near as smooth as an Eaton

It’s really not that hard if you have the right instructor and don’t try and shift it like it’s an automotive 5 speed. Too many people think they can hop right in and try to shift it like it’s an old dodge neon

If you can’t get it into high range after the 3rd try, you have to take a shower...in a truck stop

We have a 1977 Kenworth on the farm with a 4sp Main box and a 6sp auxiliary box. The Main stays in 3rd gear and we just use the aux shift lever. When it comes to twin sticks, if you fuck it up-you pull over and start from the bottom.

What fun would that be

Said the guy who’s never done it with a heavy duty transmission

I’d bet good money that most of the hardcore manual enthusiasts that comment on jalopnik couldn’t shift a 10 speed to save their life

I never said I was as right wing.

I understand that, but it also doesn’t mention any kind of intent either. Many times have I had multiple weapons and Kevlar in my vehicle because I was on my way to a class where body armor is required.

I’m a midwesterner who grew up with firearms and I was an instructor for quite a while so nothing in that picture, except the body armor, is out of the norm for me. But I could see where it could be off putting for somebody that isnt knowledgeable about firearms

There’s no “machine gun” in that picture. Every thing in it is semi-automatic

That’s a terrifying arsenal???

What makes the owner an asshole? That he’s a vet and has a support dog, which he’s allowed to fly with? There’s no bad guy here. It sucks for all involved
