2011-2014 trucks are fine. 2010 is when engines finally got reliable. 07-10 are the years that they’re god awful. Especially Cummins. DOC face plugging every 100k miles. They finally figured out how to cure that but they still have problems to this day with decomposition tubes being packed with DEF deposits, NOX

You could’ve just said you’re gay for straight 6 engines and saved me from reading that scattered all over the countryside story. I’m a diesel technician, I knew all of it already

A lot of locomotive engines are V16. And a lot of the old 2 cycle truck engines were V configurations.

Reliable engines? Sure. Reliable aftertreatment systems- fuck no

The only machine I know of that used double 6's are Claas choppers. And they stopped that shit 6 years ago in favor of a big V12 because you’d end up blowing one of the engines if you had it running when it wasn’t needed for the load. The newest versions of the Oshkosh Striker airport emergency vehicle is going to use

And even most large construction or ag engines are v12

Do you like Cummins? Well don’t ever try and chase down one of their aftertreatment issues. Because your opinion will change

None of Cummins’ most powerful engines are inlines. In fact their half ass powerful ones aren’t inlines either. Inlines are great for heavy duty trucks, construction, and Ag equipment. Everything else is a V

But how did he survive without any kind of cockpit protection device?

Pre emissions in my world, heavy duty Diesel engines, are before 2007

No shit, but that isn’t what I said.

Nope. More fuel, not enough air=black smoke. Most of the trucks that do this shit are pre emissions

The headline could’ve simply been:

“Maybe I won’t hate seeing these ads so much anymore knowing the personal torment each individual on screen is silently suffering.”

I just overhauled a CAT C15 because somebody put about 3lbs of sugar in the fuel tank. The inside of the engine was rusted worse than a maritime wreck and the injector o-rings were completely fucked, so it was making about 5 gallons of oil in 30 miles. I’ve seen a lot of shit in this profession, but this was a first

No, only one of them is

Valve cover gasket? Which one? There’s 6 of them

Depends where you are. A lot of large fleets that use day cabs I.E. Con-Way or XPO are all day cabs with roof fairings. I understand what you’re trying to say, your terminology was just wrong.

The term day cab has nothing to do with height. It’s the fact that there is no sleeper that makes it a day cab. There’s plenty of day cabs out there that are fuel efficient with trailer height roof fairings and there’s trucks with short sleepers that aren’t the height of the trailer.

Rodgers still takes a back seat to Mathews for the player that most overweight 20-40 year old women in this town want the most. I’m so happy he’s married now. Hopefully that will decrease the number of hogs wearing shirts with “Clay Mathews future wife” on it
