Validating our long-range nuclear ballistic missile capability to the world may sound morbid, as using that capability operationally would probably mean the apocalypse, but it is entirely necessary.

Ugh. Get it though your skull — this is only PARTIALLY about the middle east. This is mostly about NATO and Eastern Europe, which is what Putin REALLY wants. He needs to undermine NATO before making a move into the Baltic states, so as to not provoke an Article 5 response. And he’s very efficiently doing just that.
