There is still some sadness associated with this story. Richard Loving was killed (and Mildred Loving injured) by a drunk driver in 1975, when he was 41. Mildred never remarried, and died in 2008.

The last one is very real for those in the Phoenix area. Someone really was dismembered on the light rail three years ago. They were between cars for whatever reason, and the train took off with them still on it (but not in it). The head and body made it to different points on the track.
I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like to see so many people on screen that don’t look like you (i.e. most people you see on screen). Very much get what you’re saying about it feeling “abnormal,” even as we know it’s not at all.
