It’s not coincidental that the last remaining veterans of World War II worldwide are dying, and that even those who just very young adults in those days have aged past anything resembling a normal period of public service. Most have already died.

No mentions of emily danforth and The Miseducation of Cameron Post? I’m disappointed. Was the first thing I thought of.

As shitty as the man is, it’s helpful to know that at least we have people like the Costco CEO (W. Craig. Jelinek). He’s the opposite of Bernie Marcus, and his company is in better shape to boot.

It just factors right into the entitlement mentality that pervades our economy, although it’s mostly found in upper-level (i.e. older) management people, rather than in the age group that it’s commonly pointed at (i.e. younger workers).

So it seems— my error. I’m sure you would agree, though, that there are many who unironically hold the view you posted.

Somehow, Vin Scully remains immune to the (very real) problem you described.

So you’ve notified the appropriate municipal authorities in your area to ignore your property and person in the event that something happens to it and/or you? You’ve decided to forego any and all usage of publicly-funded items?

Edited out. You already posted about it down the page :).

There are some shades of the early days of AIDS, when hardly anyone understood what was going on, and those that did have some halfway decent knowledge were limited by the primitive state of research on the disease (made worse by a complete lack of federal government funding).

Someone from, well, I was going to say before 2001, but obviously we weren’t using phones like that back then.

Reading that immediately makes me wonder if her advice was based on hard experience (as it is with so many).

I think most of us take the view that if something hasn’t happened to us, it variously never happened, doesn’t happen much, or is suspect at best (no matter the source).

I think perhaps the most depressing thing about this is how many comparatively random women present had their own stories. This is part of why I think the number of women who have been sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime is much higher than more conservative estimates like to place that figure. Men seem

I was just about to post that— it’s a great story. There are some adults around now who weren’t born yet when that happened.

That’s awful. I didn’t know such a site existed, but it strikes me as the sort of thing that should be publicly supported.

Speaking as a man, I’m very appreciative of this and other posts you’ve made (along with many others). Thank you. I hadn’t given enough thought to this issue before now. I think that there’s a major difference between male and female directors in general, and I usually prefer the female directors. A lot more emotion,

Who is this “we” you refer to? There’s a substantial “we” voting for Hillary Clinton. Do we not count?

It’s interesting— I no longer consider myself a “young voter,” and it’s because I clearly am out of step with what true young voters are saying and doing right now. I remember the 1990s a bit too well to buy some of what various people say about Clinton, or perhaps just to overlook the older versions of what she went

And offensive.

I can see that HRC is winning. That alone separates me from a lot of Sanders folks right now.
