I never believed for a second that they would tone crap. But they're remarkably comfortable on my plantar fasciitis-ridden feet and make my workday not miserable. The Zappos reviews on Fit Flops and ToneUps are full of other sufferers who agree.

@Kali Mama: I honestly never realized people thought only children were maladjusted. That was all I meant.

@quietgrrrl: I guess no one had the nerve to say it to me. I'm an only child because my brother died.

I didn't realize that anyone thought only children suffered socially.

I wonder how many people attributed my hesitance to turn into uncontrolled traffic at night attributed it to my gender and not my shit-tastic night vision. It fucks up your depth perception and you can't tell if the oncoming car is the right or left lane, making the turn very scary.

"kids don't need ID"

@grace ipsa loquitur: Thank you. I skimmed this post trying to figure out why something so sympathetic to and uncritical of Stanger was appearing on Jezebel, of all places. I was left wondering WTF?

@sheistolerable: I had someone once call me a "gentlewoman" and I got such a kick out of it that it's what I use now. Gentleman and gentlewoman.

@meg9: That was a paraphrase because I was too lazy to look it up myself. I think it was Bridget Jones's Diary.

tl;dr

@weetziebat: Non-covertly is probably the best way to do this. If he HAD been planning to kill you, knowing his identifying information was in your friend's hands may have stopped him.

@la.donna.pietra: It did, but in spite of the mental health profession, not because of it. This instance was just item on a very long list of ways the mental health profession failed me.

@la.donna.pietra: I did grad school fairly recently and I had a pretty subpar experience with the sounseling center. They said "you need to see an M.D.." I said "I can't find one who will take my insurance." They replied "we've done all we can, bye" and cut me loose.

@imnotjohnnyramone: When the state of California voted to abolish affirmative action in hiring and college admissions, I attended a debate on my college campus. I asked one of the speakers if she really thought that progress so far had only been achieved because it was legally mandated, that if affirmative action was

"I don't get it. If anybody without enough melanin says it, it's a horrible thing; but when black people say it, it's affectionate. It's very confusing."

But I thought these were scholarship competitions.

@quietgrrrl: I meant 20 years apart. I wonder if Goldie sucks at math, too.
