Well, we ended up with an Outback, but yea, if you’re looking $30k or less, it’s really hard to justify combing for a used luxury wagon or buying a VW when there’s a bajillion CUV/SUVs that have basically absorbed the wagon market(sorry, I have a deep reflexive hatred of VW from a bad Jetta experience).

Beach tents rock. As an added bonus (if you have a small person) you can set up the beach tent in your backyard as a play tent when you aren’t at the beach. That way you have an excuse for not collapsing it besides forgetting the instructions. :)

I would definitely just make your own...my wife whips up homemade ice cream for our son (nut allergies) and her vanilla is to die for...mostly because it’s got a shit ton of heavy cream and real vanilla beans.

Oh I’m not defending him. It’s a huge inconvenience. But sometimes the articles make it sound like the entire coastline is closed, and that’s not the case and it could hurt tourism elsewhere in the state if people think all beaches are closed.

THANK YOU. We pay about 9k in property taxes. Our house cost under $300k, in a very safe neighborhood with excellent schools, a ton of parks maintained by my town, and nearly-monthly townwide community events.

The thing that I think confuses some people is that only two beaches are closed. The municipal beaches are open, but the towns charge a hell of a lot more for badges than the state does for parking. NJ.com had an awesome slideshow of Island Beach Park being totally empty and Seaside next to it extra cramped.

I agree about the one owner/low mileage issue. My grandma sold me her 2000 Altima in 2005 with only 5,000 miles on it. The car had all sorts of starter issues, and then later the battery exploded like a Galaxy Note.

I think that depends on the Outback market. People who buy an Outback because they don’t want an SUV and want some decent perks, yea. People who like the idea of owning a car that makes you look like you spend your weekends hiking state parks with your adorable dog aren’t going to buy a Buick instead. ;)
