I like serialized television, but not for Star Trek. Short 3-episode arcs are ok, but over an entire season? Lazy writing is completely exposed on this format. Plot devices that don’ work or don’ make sense are very apparent when you have one long story.

I’m guessing that it will be a very long time before we get a Marvel movie with a Latino lead...since there are hardly any Latino superheroes.

They should have flipped roles.

To all of you people who are commenting, after you’e stopped watching the show - why are you here? To complain about something in which you have no stake. Why are you even reading this article, if you don’t enjoy the show?

It’s better Trek than DSC.

She doesn’t need a love interest. Please no. Why would you pick Rhodey, anyway?

At the end of the film, when Ellie is getting grilled & they ask her why they should take her word as truth of what she experienced - after all the talk of faith & belief through the film- James Woods asks her why they should believe her, despite having no proof...she should have said FAITH. (mic drop)

There are still NO Hispanics among the main cast. There has been only One Hispanic character among the main cast in 5 previous Start Trek series. There has been at least one Asian character and at least one black character among main cast on EVERY Star Trek series. And only one Hispanic among all 5. And the new

I agree 1000%

Unfortunate that your article only discusses black actors & not all actors of color. I mean, why don’t you complain that there are no Latino Superheroes? Or others?

But not just black actors.

Sidney, don’t you mean to make this point about ANY actor of color? Not JUST black actors, but Latinos and Asians and Indigenous actors as well? I would point out in fact that there is even LESS representation in films of the other actors of color. For example, how many Latino Superheroes in film, are there? Hmmmm?

It would be nice if the show could feature a Latino or Latina major character. It would be the first show to do that. (Lt. Torres was only half Latina and never even mentioned her Latin half. Chakotay, while played by a Latin man, was Native American.

A Latino Marvel Superhero at last! It’s a start...

Are there ANY Latino/a Superheroes in Marvel’s line up? Please dont mention Miles Morales, who is only half Latino.

Going into the diversity discussion, I must say that there is STILL no major Latina/o superhero on Marvel’s roster. Miles Morales is 1/2 African American, not even a Black Latino (there are dark skinned Latinos in most Latin countries, if he/she must be dark skinned).

Superman cared about people getting injured, even during a fight. But not in Snyder’s version. No remorse, no emotion over the dead “collateral damage,” cause he was too busy kissing Lois.

So, does this include Latinos, who are Black skinned? What about biracial people?
