Bingo. The industry shed tens of thousands of jobs when ships moved to containers from pallets of loose cargo, and the same is about to happen with robotics and automation. We don't need dockworkers making $175,000 a year when automated systems are already being put in place elsewhere.

Last gasp of a dying breed. The canal is getting widened and the rest of the world is automating these jobs. They're trying to get as much as they can while they've still some leverage and everyone is paying for it.
