According to an episode of This American Life, it seems that some of the blame here should go to Obama, as previous administrations did a lot more to grant immigration status to Middle Easterners who worked with the U.S.

. . . okay, it seems you’re of the opinion that actually knowing what is happening around you is some kind of ridiculous aspiration . . .

You are seriously underreacting. You clearly don’t understand the gravity of the situation facing us at all.

You proposed that he might do the literal thing that he did, as described in the article you were commenting on. And then you asked to be told that you were overreacting.

we have to move on or we are doomed.

I wouldn’t put it past this motherfucker to deport born and raised Americans who disagree with him.

“We have to do even more of this thing that hasn’t worked.”

I’m very fearful that he could extend this notion onto legal immigrants

It’s more that it rots your brain, actually. Distracting yourself with more stupid triumphalism is counterproductive.

Or we could have, you know, nominated a candidate who is capable of winning an election.

They can’t be seen to vote against the nominees simply on party lines.

Everything is a chess game.

By voting “no” to everyone, it makes the Dems look like are purposely being partisan or divisive.

I think we need a new expression to describe the Democratic Party in this country. “Never attribute to cleverness what can be explained by stupidity.”

I’m sure she won’t, but I’m not sure that says anything good about her or the magazine.

Congrats, that’s what’s gonna happen.

I love this idea. If your candidate wins, people who voted for anyone else have to pay higher taxes.

Oh man a scar from a class in making stone tools is the best possible scar! That is awesome!

Well, I figured she was more electable than Bernie, and I felt (and still feel) that Bernie’s contempt for partisan politics would hamstring him when he was in a position in which he’d need to exploit it to get anything done. I’m personally very skeptical of the “blow up the system” type argument that Bernie kinda ran

Well, because the alternative was a single payer system in which the government makes the rules because it’s funding it, but apparently some people on the right weren’t comfortable with that . . .
