It’s not that there aren’t any good charter schools; of course some people who have good intentions and the needed expertise have started charter schools. It’s just that lots of people who don’t have those things have done it also.

See, this is one thing I don’t understand. Why don’t they teach these languages in schools? I don’t mean reservation schools but public schools across the nation. It’s the best way to keep a language alive.

I think there hasn’t been a lot of awareness of the issues facing Native people prior to this. As far as language preservation goes, that’s an issue I personally care about a lot but Native people have pointed out to me that selectively supporting language preservation means excluding groups whose language has died
