This comparison is apt IMO. I feel like both of them could have written something halfway interesting but our society has a niche market for “blonde trainwreck”, so they took the low-hanging fruit. I’m so bored of this trope and I wish both would go away.

God, there’s nothing worse that someone who thinks they’re being edgy but is really just being stupid. They always think we can’t handle them. No, you’re just annoying. Go away.

No, she’s not in recovery. She’s still actively using. She’s claimed she is using less and is more functional, but there’s no reason to believe her.

Privileged though her background is, she’s clearly in a world of emotional and physical pain. I don’t like her writing style, and I don’t think she has much interesting to

Yeah this should have been one of the one word posts that used to piss people off. Just “No.” with a hyperlink to the clip.

Whats even more bizarre about this is that Fredrick Douglass is one of like, 6 black people who you learn about in public school (along with Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, MLK, Chrispus Attucks and Dred Scott). Most 8th graders could probably tell you that Douglass isnt exactly a contemporary figure.

Let’s be real: does Donald Trump know Frederick Douglas isn’t the peanut butter guy?

I think about that way more often than she deserves. In the context of the abortion debate she is the worst possible example of someone who has had one. I still think she should have the right to do it, I am just pissed about how awful she is in regards to sexual health and safety.

As someone who has been close with addicts...I would not take that bet. Financial resources help, but heroin kills the rich and poor alike. The rich just get more chances.

I work in addictions and Marnell’s experience is in many ways, the polar opposite, of the patients that my non-profit serves. Most of our patients are low-income people of color who turned to substances because of severe poverty, a childhood steeped in violence and abuse, trauma exposure etc. But Marnell has all the

she always looks so fucking dirty. no thanks.

I find a lot of Cat’s writing fascinating in a dark way (I also have seen pretty much every episode of Intervention, for whatever that’s worth), but I find no aspect of her life in any way glamorous or appealing.

You’ll find more when you’re walking around - or sitting in another location. But when you live in a city like I do, you’re surrounded by them.

I feel like Barb was yet another case of people fixating on a minor character for some reason I will never understand. E.g. Boba Fett.

I love Black Mirror and have caught myself thinking about episodes again and again.

When I finished the show, one of the first things I said to my sister was “Omg why doesn’t anyone care about Barb???” hahaha. She was completely, hilariously ignored and brushed aside. Winona Ryder and and the whole rest of the cast is totally losing their shit over Mike being missing, and Barb is barely registering

On a dating site, one dude’s opening line to me was “You are a total Barb.” I genuinely had no clue how to respond.

I love your analogy and that it immediately illuminated your argument.

Is she funny or something?

Very this.

Mike on Stranger Things was the worst actor I’ve ever seen in my life and I did high school theatre. Other than that it was great.
